New LUA for Jetcat - dual engines slows down scrolling through the menu

Hello all,

Perhaps someone can assist on a new LUA app that Jetcat released. You can download it here www.jetcat.de/de/service/downloads . For one engine it works perfectly but also for 2 engines it's perfect.

However when I install both apps on the DC-24, ie Jetcat and Jetcat-R then scrolling through the radio's menu becomes very slow. Any ideas why that might be? And does this pose a risk to the radio communication? Even with the 2 apps running I do not notice any slow down on the control input response. Only scrolling through the menu is slow.

But still I am worried theres some risk in running Jetcat and Jetcat-R at the same time. When I delete one of the 2 apps the speed scrolling through the menu recovers and it's fast again.

Can someone try it and let me know if I run a risk? Can jetcat do something to improve the app?

Thanks, Tassos

My guess is that there is a serious memory-leak in one of those apps. If menu scrolling becomes really slow my advice is to stop using them in flight immediately. Do not use those apps and fly before the reason is fixed.

Not trying to scare you but stil:

While it is not theoretically possible to break transmitter-receiver contact and model control with faulty lua-apps I have managed to do so once when I deliberately tried to. Never seen it with any apps tho.

Thanks Tero,

It's weird how Jetcat would issue a publicly downloadable app and expose all Jetcat/Jeti users to such risks.

I've also got an answer from Jeti themselves. The answer reads:
Dear Tassos
I can try the app and look at it briefly. However, there can be several reasons for the application slowing down transmitter/scrolling. Without looking at the code it's impossible to guess what could be improved.
For example one function that is called very often can slow down the GUI response (such as sensor.getValue(s)).
But this will influence only the speed of user interface and not transmitting/controls.

Side note: The upcoming transmitter update will bring the Lua speed up so even scrolling would be faster in the end.

I've not gotten any more update since then (20th May). On the ground the links seem solid in all my 5 jets I've tried this. I will do more tests but won't fly till October now as the temperature out here in Dubai now is 40+C.

Any more thoughts would be most welcome.

Kind regards,

Tassos

It is as Martin (Jeti) says, there can be several reasons. Even tho control is separated from GUI I would not use it before reason is figured out. Let's remember, it can be your settings and/or environment too.
