I just read through the thread and I must say that from a users point ov view I do not want to have anything in my Tx for password protection which may need to involve the OEM or distributor.
Its ok to have a simple lock to prevent myself or others from accidental canges to theconfig.
But this sucker needs to be resettable by me as the end user in case I forgot the password (which is at least 100x more likely than a theft :))

I do not want to call anyone, since this incident will happen for sure over a weekend, and I do not want to need an internet connection to unlock, since it will happen at the airfield where there is no Wifi. And for sure not I want to send the stuff in to service and wait for it to return.

So please keep things simple and apply common sense.
What is likely to happen if a dumbf..k steels your radio? They will play around with it, maybe open it and try to reset, and then after a few trys throw it away. If they are smart, they disassemble it and resell the parts on ebay as spareparts ;)
Bottom line no theft protection.
For a useful theft protection, better think about a hardware lock with a steel wire such as you do it with your laptop.

Just my 2 cents
Stephan
